...Baby One More Time is the debut album from American entertainer Britney Spears. It was released on January 12, 1999, in the U.S. and was principally produced by Max Martin and Rami (and was largely composed by the former). The title track, which is her only U.S. #1 single to date, is generally considered Spears' signature song. Although she herself had very minimal artistic input with this record, it is her best-selling album both in the U.S. and internationally and propelled the then-seventeen-year-old to superstardom during the year of its release. The album also spent a huge 51 weeks in the top ten of the Billboard 200 and 60 weeks in the Top 20. It stayed on the Billboard 200 for exactly two years.
Although the critical response to the album was lukewarm, ...Baby One More Time was a huge commercial success. It debuted at number one in both the U.S. and Canada, and reached the top ten in many other countries. The record has been certified 14x Platinum in the U.S. It is the highest selling album by a teenager both in the US and World-wide. She also made history by being the only female artist to have both album and single go number one at the same time, as well as the youngest to do so, <ref> Jeckell, Barry (2004). [edit] Miscellaneous
- The song, ...Baby One More Time became a US #1 hit from this album. Of the singles from this album, only the title track has topped the Hot 100. The rest are either Top 10 or Top 20 hits.
- Unlike other albums by Britney Spears, the front cover is a fold-out page with a poster of Britney (much like Shakira's Oral Fixation Vol. 2).
- The album's liner notes contain the lyrics only of the singles "...Baby One More Time", "Sometimes", "Born To Make You Happy" and "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart". Lyrics for "(You Drive Me) Crazy" do not appear, probably because the single was a remix.
- Some editions (like the Australian edition) have an alternate cover picture, a picture of Spears in white, with her hands in a praying gesture. This picture also appears inside.
- "Soda Pop" appears in the soundtrack of Pokemon: The First Movie. Mikey Bassie sings additional vocals on the track.
- "The Beat Goes On" is a cover version of the same song, originally a duet sung by Sonny Bono and Cher. Bono had in fact passed away earlier the same year Spears debuted with "...Baby One More Time", in 1998. The song itself is engraved on Bono's headstone and was his funeral theme song.
- In the song ...Baby One More Time, when the line "{w}ith you I lose my mind. Give me a s{ign}" is phonetic reversed you can hear "Sleep with me, I'm not too young." The first part is widely disputed, however.
- The song, ...Baby One More Time was featured in Karaoke Revolution Volume 2. After the words, "'Cause I need to know now", what she really says is "Oh, because", but Karaoke Revolution Volume 2 erroneously put in these words, "what we've got". This has happened in most karaoke versions of the song.
- "Born To Make You Happy" was released internationally. "From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart" is a US single.
- South African Punk/Ska band "Hog Hoggidy Hog" recorded a cover of ...Baby One More Time" for their Album "Driving Over Miss Davie"".
- The song "Baby One More Time" was originally written for the R&B group TLC, but was later given to Spears after the group passed on the chance to record it.
- MADtv created a spoof for the song entitled "Lick my baby back behind" here. [1]
- A certain length of the track "Baby One More Time" when backmasked say "Sleep with me, i'm not too young" originally it was," With you i lose my mind give me a si".
