Top-rated American soap opera As the World Turns switched from black-and-white telecasts to the color standard on February 20, 1967. Other CBS soaps followed suit later in the year. The Guiding Light switched on March 20.
BBC2 became Europe's first colour TV broadcaster in July this year. This symbol featured a mixture of animation and live action; three coloured dots merged into a white one, the 2 would 'draw' itself onto the screen, and then rotate, revealing a red, green, and white 2.
