2000 Light Years Away is the first track on Kerplunk! by punk rock band Green Day released on Lookout Records.
[edit] Meaning
The song was written by Billie Joe after the first time he kissed his girlfriend, and future wife, Adrienne. Billie Joe wrote this song about having to be away from Adrienne, how much he would miss her, and how he felt as if he were "2000 Light years away" from her, as he lived in California and she lived 2,000 miles away in Minnesota.
