The 2000s in fashion is categorized mainly by punk-styled clothing, continuing from the 1990's, and Fashion from the 1980's.

  • Fashion begins to resemble 80's styles as 80's nostalgia begins.
  • The Bohemian trend (boho-chic) was popular from 2003-2005 with the acknowledgment of such celebrities as Sienna Miller and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
  • The emo trend helpes popularize tighter jeans
  • The emo look, which has been around since the 1990s, becomes more mainstream in popularity during 2004-2005.
  • Ripped jeans regained popularity in 2005 and still is remaining popular as of 2006.
  • African/Jamaican colors and the retro hipster look has become in style in 2005.
  • For professional office wear, vertically striped shirts in bold colours become popular.
  • Under Armour and other synthetic microfiber clothing becomes popular to wear outside of exercise.
  • The "Wannabe Preppy" look comes back with an upturned collar and a pink tennis shirt.
  • Livestrong wristband and other wristbands to 'support' other causes became popular. However, thousands of manufacturers began making the elastic wristbands, and thus the wristbands bought in stores rarely supported Lance Armstrong or any organizations.
  • Aviator Sunglasses and oversized oval shaped sugnlasses become popular.
  • Printed tees with sayings or messages became the norm. These shirts often have humorous quotes or images, or a combination of both.
  • Vintage looking new clothes and ripped and acid washed jeans become popular.
  • Leggings with miniskirts became popular.
  • Long vintage skirts very popular in the summer of 2006.
  • Fitteds become popular.

The late 2000s has officially began in August of 2006 and here are the predicted fashion trends for the years 2006-2010.

  • Colored pants, particularly the color green and brown become fashionable.
  • Denim jackets become more popular amongst younger generations, such as the ones who are in their teens and twenties.
  • Plaid makes a comeback, along with other trends of the 1990s.
  • The '80s fashion still remains in style, but there is a gradual shift into more '90s style clothing such as flannel and the bowl cut.
  • Ankle-length skirts will be extremely popular for most of the late 2000s, especially in the years 2007 and 2008.
  • Brown, yellow, orange, and white will be major colors in fashion for the late 2000s.
  • The grunge look, which is already becoming more popular will return.
  • Shorter hair and hair gel will once be more popular amongst men. The fluffy look of the 1980s and late 1990s will come back.
  • Extremely baggy jeans, sagging with a hoodie is extremely popular in male circles.
  • Long hair in men (shoulder-length) has already started coming back and will continue to grow more popular. The "emo" hairstyle will still remain in popularity but that will be replaced by a new "emo" hairstyle around the year 2009.
  • High waisted jeans will comeback on males around the year 2008.
  • Boy band fashion (preppy male trends from 1997-2002) will come back in the late 2000s as long as a new rise of boy bands starting in middle of 2007.
