- September 11 - Around 3,000 killed in the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and rural Pennsylvania. Saddam Hussein immediately declares that they had no involvement in the attacks. Even though he might have taken joy in the fact that America was attacked, it has never been adequately proven that he had any connection to the attack. This attack on America set the stage for an attack on Iraq and the end of Saddam Hussein's rule
