• 26 March - Nur Amalina Che Bakri managed to get 17A1s in the 2004 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam; the highest ever achieved score in Malaysia.
• 1 April - Siti Nurhaliza held her concert in Royal Albert Hall, London for the first time.
• 20 May - Miri gained city status and became the second city of Sarawak
