228th Battalion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 228th Battalion was part of the Canadian Army in World War I. It is perhaps most famous for having a team, comprised entirely of troops, in the National Hockey Association (for-runner to the modern NHL) for the 1916-17 season. They were called to active duty in February, 1917, and as such had to withdraw from the league.
