- January - Alexander the Great is severely wounded at the siege of the City of the Mallians.
- Alexander's troops begin the march west in three different groups. While Craterus takes a northern route, and Nearchus sails through the Indian Ocean, Alexander himself crosses the Gedrosian desert, where his army is nearly destroyed.
- Pytheas of Massilia makes the first recorded visit by a Greek of the lands currently known as Britain (approximate date).
