The term ace in a day is used to designate a combat pilot who has shot down five or more airplanes in a single day. Among the most famous aces in a day are Chuck Yeager and David McCampbell, who destroyed 9 enemy fighters in a single mission. Other notable pilots to have claimed the title include Antoni Glowacki in the Battle of Britain, James E.
