Arafura File Snake (Acrochordus arafurae) is a snake species found in northern Australia and New Guinea.
The Arafura File Snake of Northern Australia is an amazingly loosely-skinned snake.It is part of the Wart Snake family and another member of the family is the Elephant-trunk Snake of Java in Indonesia.
They are non-venomous animals and do not pose a threat to human beings. The indigenous peoples of northern Australia hunt these creatures often as they are quite common. They are known to tackle large prey such as eel-tailed catfish. The female is usually larger than the male.
