The stream catfishes are a family Akysidae of catfishes found in the fresh waters of southeast Asia. It includes over 40 species in three genera; many species are only recently described.
They are mostly small, only a few species reaching as much as 10 cm in length, Breitensteinia insignis being the largest known at 22 cm.
