The Alberta Football League (AFL) is a semi-professional Canadian football competition. For the 2005 season 10 teams (all based in Alberta) competed in a single division. The league's schedule runs from May through to the end of August.

The league was founded in 1984. Until the 2004 season, the league's teams were based in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer. In 2004 the league added teams in Grande Prairie, Lloydminster, and Medicine Hat. The league then added a team in Wainwright for the 2005 season after the Edmonton Icemen folded.

In 1999, the AFL became a founding member of the Canadian Senior Football League, which is now known as the Canadian Major Football League. The CMFL is the national governing body for semi-pro Canadian football. Every September the AFL champion meets the champions of the other semi-pro leagues across the country to determine the national champion.

The most successful team is the Calgary Wolfpack with 12 Provincial Championships to go with 3 National Championships.
