Alberti

Alberti was an illustrious Florentine family, rivals of the Medicis and the Albizzi. When Francis Stephen of Lorraine inherited the Grand Duchy of Tuscany from Charles VI, Alberti family members that opposed the Duke of Lorraine, changed their last name to Alberty and emmigrated to neighboring nations. Alberti is also a musical term and a toponym. Finally, Alberti is the name of a cipher.
