Alborada

Alborada is a telenovela made by Mexican TV network Televisa. It is a historical telenovela, set in the colonial Panama and Mexico a few years before Mexican Independence from Spain.

This telenovela was broadcast from December 2005 to April 2006 on Univision in the U.S. Alborada also won the TV y Novelas award for best telenovela of the year (2006).

In Santa Rita, Panama, Hipolita is still living with her grandmother, Doña Carlota, and Hipolita is arranged to marry Antonio. Antonio never has had sex with Hipolita because he is emotionally affected by the psychological and physical abuse from his uncle. Antonio and his mother have economical problems and the only way to inherit their uncle's money is that Antonio must have a baby. Hipolita's mother in law, forces a Mexican man, Luis, to pretend be Antonio and to have sex with Hipolita.
