Ali Meshkini

Ayatollah Ali Meshkini is an Iranian cleric and politician. As of 2004, he is the chairman of the Iranian Assembly of Experts, which selects the Supreme Leader of Iran and supervises his activities. He is the author of many books on fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and general issues of Islam.

Meshkini is the chair of Society of Teachers of Seminaries of Qom, which is deputied by Ahmad Jannati.<ref>[1]</ref><ref>[2]</ref> Despite his old age and very poor physical condition, he has become a candidate for re-election in 2006 Assembly of Experts elections.<ref>[3]</ref>
