All by Myself
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"All by Myself" is the title of several songs, the best known of which was a power ballad performed by Eric Carmen in 1975 that has spawned numerous cover versions (see below). It borrows heavily from Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor. Carmen's full version has an extended piano solo and lasts seven minutes.
"All by Myself" is also the title of several unrelated songs by such artists as Irving Berlin, Big Bill Broonzy, Ringo Starr, Fats Domino, The Johnny Burnette Trio, Roy Orbison, Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers, Feeder, Green Day, and Haystak.
In a 2006 poll for the Channel 5 program Britain's Favourite Break-up Songs, Eric Carmen's version of this song was voted seventeenth.
