Andrew "Andy" Richter (born October 28, 1966) is an American comedian and actor, best known for his former role as Conan O'Brien's sidekick on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Richter was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan as the second of four children and was raised in Yorkville, Illinois, where he was elected Prom King. While attending Columbia College Chicago, he played in several Chicago improv groups, including the Annoyance Theatre, before catching his role on Late Night.

Richter left his post at Late Night in 2000, saying he wanted to focus on an acting career. His first major venture, Fox's critically acclaimed but little watched Andy Richter Controls the Universe, was cancelled after just two short mid-season runs. His next Fox sitcom, Quintuplets, was panned by the critics and lasted only one season. He also appeared in one of the last episodes of FOX's critically-acclaimed Arrested Development as all five of a set of quintuplets, including himself. His next television role will be in the upcoming Andy Barker P.I., which is co-written and executive produced by Conan O'Brien <ref>"Conan teams up with his old sidekick", CNN.com, March 7, 2006</ref>. He also appeared in a single episode as a family psychiatrist in the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle.

In addition to his television work, Richter has appeared in motion pictures such as Elf, Seeing Other People, New York Minute, Madagascar, My Boss's Daughter, Scary Movie 2, Cabin Boy, "Pootie Tang" and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

Richter is married to actress Sarah Thyre (a veteran of Strangers with Candy, on which Richter twice made a cameo appearance) and they have two children.
