Angeltheow
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Angeltheow, also spelled Angletheow, Engengenthe, or Angenwit (? - c. 477) was the great-great-great-grandfather of Creoda of Mercia and the son of Offa of Angel.
Angeltheow's son was Eomer. According to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, Angeltheow is a fourth-generation descendant of Woden, the same generation as Hengest and Horsa.
It is claimed by some<ref>'After the Flood' by Bill Cooper - a Christian Right explanation of post-Genesis historical genealogies</ref> that Angeltheow may also be the Swedish king Ongentheow (as mentioned in Beowulf) killed at the Battle of Ravenswood<ref>Danish site - Beowulf in Cyberspace</ref>, although the battle is said to have taken place some time after the former is reported to have died.
