Genera

The Anomalepidae (dawn blind snakes) is a snake family of 16 species belonging to the Typhlopoidea superfamily. Similar to the related families Typhlopidae and Leptotyphlopidae, the anomalepids are small snakes (usually less than 30 cm or 12 in) with blunt heads and short, blunt tails. They are mainly burrowing snakes and due to their life style their eyes are vestigial. They are found in Southern Central America and Northern South America (Nicaragua through Northern Argentina).
