Appendix (horse)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Appendix or Appendix Quarter Horse is a cross between a Thoroughbred and an American Quarter Horse. The resulting offspring can be registered in the "appendix" of the American Quarter Horse Association's studbook, hence the nickname. Horses listed in the appendix are not eligible for breeding, and their offspring are ineligible for AQHA registration.
If an "appendix" is shown or raced successfully in sanctioned AQHA events, the horse can be advanced from the "appendix" to the regular studbook, making it's offspring eligible for AQHA registration.
