Arabian Prince
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arabian Prince (born Mik Lezan), born in Inglewood, CA and later moved to Compton. Arabian Prince is an electro hop artist, hip hop rapper and former N.W.A. member from Los Angeles.
Arabian Prince started making music in middle school recording mixtapes at KACE radio where his father worked. He also DJ'd at school dances and clubs [1]. He started his official career at RapSur Records, a label set up by Russ Parr, and was part of Russ Parr's electro music group, Bobby Jimmy & the Critters [2]. Bobby Jimmy & the Critters released four albums and one greatest hits record from 1986-1991 before disbanding. During that time, Arabian Prince did some DJing and producing work with Egyptian Lover, L.A. Dream Team and World Class Wreckin' Cru. This work caught the attention of Dr. Dre as well as the Los Angeles club scene and landed Arabian Prince guest appearances on Straight Outta Compton.
The Arabian Prince found only limited success once he departed from N.W.A. for a solo career in 1988. His debut album, Brother Arab, released by Orpheus Records barely scraped the bottom of the Billboard 200 in 1989. He later went on to make three more commercially unsuccessful albums; 1990's Situation Hot, 1992's The Underworld and 1995's Where's My Bytches. He later released a Greatest Hits compilation album in 1998.
Arabian Prince has reappeared producing video games for FOX Interactive and Vivendi Universal around the year 2000 and currently owns a 3D animation studio and Video Game Production company [citation needed].
