Aranese language

Aranese (Aranés in Gascon/Aranese and in Spanish; Aranès in Catalan; Aranais in French) is a dialect of Gascon (which is part of the Occitan language group of the Romance languages), spoken in Val d'Aran, in northwestern Catalonia (Spain), where it is one of the three official languages besides Catalan and Spanish.
Once considered to be an endangered language [citation needed], spoken mainly by older people, it is now experiencing a renaissance; it enjoys co-official status with Catalan and Spanish within the Val d'Aran, and since 1984 has been taught in schools.
About 90% of the inhabitants of the Aran Valley can understand it, and about 65% can speak it.
Most Aranese are also fluent in Catalan, Spanish, and French.
