Armenian-American

An Armenian-American are Americans whose ancestry stems, either wholly or partly come from Armenia. At United States 2000 Census, 385,488 Americans indicated Armenian full or partial ancestry.[1] The first Armenian known to have moved to America was Martin the Armenian. He arrived at Jamestown, Virginia in 1618, when the colony was 11 years old. The largest concentration of Armenian-Americans are located in Glendale, California. Other important Armenian-American communities include Watertown, Massachusetts and many cities located in California state including Burbank, Fresno, Hollywood, Montebello, North Hollywood, Pasadena, and the Greater Los Angeles area. The eastern part of the Hollywood district of Los Angeles was named "Little Armenia" on October 6, 2000. Armenian-Americans gather in multiple towns and cities every year on April 24 to take part in a protest for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The largest of such protests occurs in the Los Angeles area.
