Armenian ruble

Image:ArmenianRuble.png The ruble (Armenian: ռուբլի, Russian: рубль) was the independent currency of the Democratic Republic of Armenia between 1919 and 1922. It replaced the Russian ruble of the Russian Empire at par and was replaced by the Soviet ruble when Armenia became part of the Soviet Union. No subdivisions of the ruble were issued and the currency existed only as banknotes.
Notes were issued in denominations between 5 and 10,000 rubles. Most were quite crudely printed with mostly Russian text. However, three denominations (50, 100 and 250 rubles) were printed in the U.K. by Waterlow and Sons Ltd and these notes are of a much finer style, bearing mostly Armenian text.
