Arrondissements of the Corrèze département

In France, the chief town of an arrondissement is known as the sous-préfecture. When an arrondissement contains the préfecture (capital) of the département, that préfecture is the capital of the arrondissement, acting both as a préfecture and as a sous-préfecture. The Corrèze département of France has 3 arrondissements. These are:

  1. Arrondissement of Brive-la-Gaillarde, (sous-préfecture: Brive-la-Gaillarde) with 15 cantons and 99 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 120,140 in 1990, and was 121,150 in 1999, an increase of 0.84%.
  2. Arrondissement of Tulle, (préfecture of the Corrèze département: Tulle) with 14 cantons and 118 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 80,995 in 1990, and was 76,997 in 1999, a decrease of 4.94%.
  3. Arrondissement of Ussel, (sous-préfecture: Ussel) with 8 cantons and 69 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 36,773 in 1990, and was 34,429 in 1999, a decrease of 6.37%.fr:Arrondissements de la Corrèze
