Arthur Cronquist

Arthur J. Cronquist (1919–1992) was a North American botanist, a specialist on Compositae, most famous for the Cronquist system, laid down in
- An Integrated System of Classification of Flowering Plants (1981) and
- The Evolution and Classification of Flowering Plants (1st edition 1968; 2nd edition 1988).
Two plant genera from the sunflower family (Asteraceae) have been named in his honor :
- Cronquistia R.M. King (a possible synonym of Carphochaete A. Gray)
- Cronquistianthus R.M.King & H.Rob. (sometimes included as a group in Eupatorium L.)
