Arthur Schwartz photo taken by Carl Van Vechten, 1933 Arthur Schwartz (November 25, 1900 - September 3, 1984) was an American composer of popular music.

Schwartz supported legal studies at New York University and postgraduate studies at Columbia University by playing piano before seeing the error of his ways and concentrating his talents on Vaudeville, Broadway and Hollywood.

His son, Jonathan Schwartz, is a popular radio personality and sometime musician.
