As Time Goes By (song)

"As Time Goes By" is a song written by Herman Hupfeld for the 1931 Broadway musical Everybody's Welcome. Frances Williams sang the song in the original show. It was recorded by several artists in 1931 including Rudy Vallee. The song was re-introduced in 1942 in the film Casablanca in which it was sung by Dooley Wilson. A re-issue of Rudy Vallee's 1931 recording became a major seller in that year. It is mainly due to the repeated showings of this film that this song is famous today. A snippet of the song is currently included in the opening logo sequence of Warner Bros. films, since Casablanca is arguably their most famous film. Parts were also used in the film What's Up, Doc?. The song has been recorded by many artists and groups. Kenny Rogers included it on his multi-million selling Love Songs album in 1997.
