Ashtead Group plc is a British equipment rental company based in Leatherhead Surrey. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
Ashtead was founded in 1947 and operates internationally, with the majority of its business coming from the United States. It operates under the name Sunbelt Rentals in the United States and the name A-Plant in the UK. It hires out large items such as aerial work platforms, backhoes, excavators and forklift trucks, and smaller equipment such as power saws, ladders, and pumps.
Ashtead's turnover for the year ended 30 April 2005 was £523.7 million.
