The Atlantic Giant Squid (Architeuthis dux) is one of three confirmed species of giant squid, although there have been as many as eight species described. This squid inhabits the northern Atlantic Ocean. It has the largest eyes of any animal.

The squid is also the antagonist in Peter Benchley's BEAST novel.
