Baby Got Back

"Baby Got Back" is a 1991 hip hop song by Sir Mix-a-Lot. The song famously starts with a discussion between two valley girls, with one girl remarking to the other "Oh-My-God, Becky! Look at her butt! It is so...big." At the time of its original release, the song caused some a minor controversy with its outspoken and plainly sexual lyric on the female anatomy, although compared to many hip hop songs it is actually very mild and humorous in this respect.

Sir Mix-a-Lot's best known song, "Baby Got Back" reached number 1 on the United States' Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks in the summer of 1992, and won a 1993 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.

It was subsequently featured in the movies American Pie: Band Camp, Charlie's Angels, Kung Pow! Enter the Fist, Jackass: The Movie, Scary Movie 4, Shrek, Shark Tale and Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, and continues to be a running joke. "Baby Got Back" also appears in a BuyMusic and an Apple Computer commercial, the television sitcom Friends, and the animated series Futurama, where in the year 3000 it is considered by the characters to be "classical music". It was also featured in the animated series American Dad in the episode titled "Camp Refoogee".

In a 2006 episode of The Simpsons (Treehouse of Horror XVII), the group themselves guest star and perform a spoof of the song called "Baby Likes Fat". In an earlier episode, Midnight RX, the normal version of the song is heard.

Sir Mix-A-Lot has recorded at least two different commercial versions of the hit song, one a Target commercial aimed towards preteens that replaces "I like big butts and I cannot lie" with "I like backpacks and I cannot lie", the other a ringtone that begins "Pick up the phone! Pick up the phone! 'Cause you don't wanna miss this call and I cannot lie!".

A parody of this song was also created by members of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. There have been several notable covers, including a light folk-rock version by Jonathan Coulton, and a lounge version by Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine. There was also a Hardcore version released by the band Throwdown. Agent Felix also created a Pop Punk version of the song.

LL Cool J had previously recorded a song lyrically similar to this one, called "Big Ole Butt".

The 90's sketch comedy show In Living Color aired a parody video called "Baby Got Snacks" with Jamie Foxx as Trail Mix-A-Lot rapping about his love for heavyset women.

An episode of Saturday Night Live featured a sketch in which Nat "King" Cole records the original version of "Baby Got Back" during his final recording session, though the studio refuses to press the song. Cole was portrayed by Tim Meadows.

There is also a Harry Potter parody titled "Sirius Black" which covers the events in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

There is a song by the Wisconsin group Shad-Rapp called "I like Big Bucks", which talks about their love for shooting deer.
