[edit] Apollo
Apollo album description: Ben Levin is a guitarist from St. Louis who specializes in the composition and performance of instrumental metal and fusion music. Influenced by Steve Vai, Jeff Beck, John Mclaughlin and a plethora of other artists, Ben seeks to create diverse and interesting music that will appeal to a broad range of musical interests. After training at The Berklee College of Music during the summer of 2005, Ben began composing his latest CD, “Apollo,” which is considered his greatest work thus far. “Apollo” has a rich blend of styles ranging from heavy metal, to funk, to neoclassical, to world, to blues. All of the instruments on the album are played by Ben, and he sings on the two vocal tracks as well. Some highlights of the album include the sparse and catchy phrasing in “Ozone Blues,” the hypnotic rhythmic melodies of “Europa,” the vocal-like melodies of “In Blood,” and the soothing counterpoint in “Dream Sequence.” This album is a must have for all guitar-fanatics and lovers of instrumental music.
