Billion may mean:

  • 1,000,000,000 (one thousand million; <math>10^{9}</math>), used by most English-speaking countries (American and usual modern British meaning). May also be (infrequently) called a milliard.
  • 1,000,000,000,000 (one million million; <math>10^{12}</math>), used by most other countries outside Asia (& older British meaning).
