Billion Electric Pty Ltd is a Taiwanese network hardware manufacturer and distributer. Although the company was founded in 1973, they have only recently become a familiar brand name for their range of broadband modems.
Their range of ADSL modem/routers became popular after broadband news website Whirlpool published a news story about their introduction into the Australian market by PC Range in October 2002. The then-current model was priced at $189, whereas most equivalent modems were priced at over $300.
Since then the company has followed the ADSL modem market in Australia, adding features like 4 port switches, wireless, VoIP, VPN termination and other features to their product line.
