The Birmingham Bulls were an ice hockey team based out of Birmingham, Alabama that played in the World Hockey Association, playing from 1976 to 1979. Their home ice was Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center. Previous to being in Birmingham, the team was known as the Ottawa Nationals and Toronto Toros. It was a somewhat eclectic franchise, going from a goon outfit to a rookie haven over a single off-season. [citation needed] The Bulls made the WHA playoffs in 1978 and the CHL playoffs in 1980, losing in the first round both times.

A team by the same name played in the East Coast Hockey League from 1992 to 2001, in the same arena. The team was moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey and renamed as the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies for the 2001-2002 season. The team moved again to Stockton, California and became the Stockton Thunder for the 2005-2006 season.
