Burray
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- The island should not be confused with Burra in the Shetland Islands.
Burray is one of the Orkney Islands in Scotland. It lies to the east of Scapa Flow and is one of the chain of islands which are linked by the causesways called the Churchill Barriers. Barriers 1, 2, and 3 link Burray with the Orkney Mainland via the islets of Glimps Holm and Lamb Holm and barrier 4 to the south is the link to South Ronaldsay.
The main settlement on Burray is Burray Village, formerly a fishing port. Burray also has a fossil museum.
In 2001, the population was 357.
