There are two types of buttock augmentation:

• The surgical enlargement of the buttocks through the insertion of a synthetic implant or through the use of substances like silicone.

• The lifting of the buttocks.

Surgical buttock augmentation is sometimes performed on transsexual and transgender women who wish to have feminine buttocks without having to wear hip and buttock padding
