[edit] CANADIAN BALL HOCKEY LEAGUE(CBHL)
The Ligue Canadienne d'hockey de boule or CANADIAN BALL HOCKEY LEAUGE (CBHL)is a small Canadian transition ball hockey league in which all teams are living and playing in the U.S. but represent different Canadian cities. The league was founded in the year 2005 as a non-professional ball hockey outlet that played under rules variant to normal ball or deck hockey. Some American deck hockey players like to refer to the CBHL as the "speed league" because of its smaller rink size and 3 on 3 action.

[edit] RULES OF THE CBHL
The rules in the CBHL are somewhat similar in regards to play as regular ball hockey but differ greatly in some aspects.
OVERALL RULES
1. Teams consist of 3 players, two forwards and one goaltender.
2. Games must be played on a CBHL approved dek hockey surface.
3. Rink size is 25'x50'.
4. Referees must also serve as scorekeepers.
5. Due to rink size no icing or offsides calls are made.
RULES OF PLAY
1. No physical contact between players is made.
2. No stick contact between players is made.
3. No highsticking is called when taking a shot but sticks must remain below the waist otherwise.
4. No fighting is allowed.
5. Poke or stick checking the player's stick is allowed as long as the intention is not to trip.
6. There is no traditional penalty or penalty box.
7. Due to team size even if accidental physical contact is made a penalty shot is awarded to the
victimized player in return at referee's discretion.
8. The normal game consists of three 15 minute periods with 5 minute intermissions in between.
9. In endurance matches there are no periods or intermissions, the first team with 30 goals wins.
10. Face offs are always done in the middle of the rink at the beginning of the period or after a penalty shot
only. Since the game is geared toward non-stop playing the team who was scored on gets possession after the goal.
11. The CBHL rink has only 3 zones. 1 zone for each team (unlike standard hockey there is no neutral zone) and
the middle rink where face offs occur.
OTHER RULES
1. CBHL approved hockey balls must be used. Referee decides the hardness according to temperature.
2. No protective gear is required.
3. Total team rosters must be no more than 7 players: 2 lines of 3 forwards and 1 goalie.
4. Sneakers of soft toed shoes must be worn, no boots or sandals.
5. Hats or caps may be worn.
6. Team jerseys or T-shirts must be worn.
[edit] THE SEASON
The CBHL regular season usually starts on April 30th and ends June 30th and consists of 30 games in which each of the 10 teams play each other three times. At the end of the regular season a Season Victor is declared by a tallying of total season goals. This team will wait until the last round of the playoffs to play the next best team for the "Dave-Ken Cup". In the playoffs which start July 1st and end around July 15th the next best 4 teams will play in single elimination matches of 3 separate games. The first round is played by the 4 teams and whoever wins advances, plays each other and goes onto the finals to play the Season Victor for the "Dave-Ken Cup"
[edit] CBHL "DAVE-KEN CUP"
The CBHL like the NHL has a final prize awarded to the best team of the playoffs, it is known as the "Dave-Ken cup". Named for the original founders of the 3 on 3 ball hockey CBHL style, this cup is the ultimate achievement and shows a great amount of strength and athleticism to its owners. The Cup is awarded at the end of round 4 of the CBHL playoffs and is held by the winning team until 2 weeks prior to the start of the regular season. So far there are only two teams who have won the Cup, in 2005 the Winnipeg Nationals and in 2006 the Charlottetown Crusaders.
[edit] LIST OF CBHL TEAMS
