Castle Donington is a village with a population of around 7000 in the North of Leicestershire, close to Derby and Nottingham and on the edge of the National Forest. It is the closest town to Nottingham East Midlands Airport and DHL which are major employers. It's also home to Donington Park motor racing circuit.
Donington Park has been the venue for Heavy metal festivals such as Download, the Ozzfest and Monsters of Rock since the early 1980s.
Castle Donington also had its own power station operated by Powergen. However, this was demolished in 1996.
Castle Donington is also home to Available Car with its advertisments on local TV and also a Welcome Car Finance showroom is located in Castle Donington's newly redeveloped industrial estate which was land belonging to the old power station site.
The village of Castle Donington also holds a fair (the wakes) around the end of October every year.
