False Flag Operation: Covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organisations, which are designed to appear as though they were carried out by other entities.

This category is dedicated to historical incidents where a credible externally verifiable literature exists stating them to be False_flag operations. In some cases such as Operation Northwoods, we have sources such as the American Joint Chiefs of Staff stating in signed declassified documents that they planned false flag operations. The official CIA website states Operation Ajax in Iran was a 'false flag' operation, also covered by a major New York Times article. Operation Gladio has been the specific subject of a resolution in the European parliament. The Reichstag fire and Gleiwitz incident have long been taught in mainstream history as Nazi 'false flag' operations. These external sources conform to the very strictest application of WIKI external verifiability guidelines, setting the standard for inclusion in this category, and materially differ from typically unverifiable 'conspiracy theories.'
