The Hohenzollern Electors of Brandenburg, who ruled from Berlin, were granted a royal throne by the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I in 1701. For political reasons they were styled Kings in Prussia until 1772, when they became Kings of Prussia (see King in Prussia for details). In 1871 the family was given the additional title of German Emperor (not "Emperor of Germany"). Following Germany's defeat in World War I the royal and imperial titles were both abolished in 1918.ca:Categoria:Reis de Prússia de:Kategorie:König (Preußen) ka:კატეგორია:პრუსიის მეფეები pl:Kategoria:Władcy Prus pt:Categoria:Reis da Prússia zh:Category:普鲁士国王
