Nonexistent people, unlike fictional people, are those somebody has claimed actually exist. Usually this is done for purposes of practical joke or hoax, but sometimes for purposes of committing fraud or as a pseudonym. Yet others on this page are persons once believed to have existed but now known never to have existed, such as Prester John.
