This category is for slaves in the Muslim world. The blanket category is used, since it is often dificult to establish the exact nationality or ethnicity of these people, becase these notions were vague at these times, as well as because of controversial or scarse information about these people.

This category is unusual in that many these persons, starting from slavery, have eventually reached high ranks.
