Cernobbio is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Como in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 40 km north of Milan and about 2 km northwest of Como, on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 7,031 and an area of 11.7 km2.<ref name="istat">All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.</ref>
