China Southwest Airlines

China Southwest Airlines was an airline based in the People's Republic of China. It merged into Air China in 2002.

The airline was head quartered at Chengdu. It also maintained a hub at Chongqing and was the sole carrier flying to Lhasa until 2002. Although it mainly serves domestic routes within southwestern China and between southwestern China and the other regions in China, it also has limited international services to Bangkok, Chiangmai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Osaka and Seoul from its bases in southwestern China.

It operated a fleet of Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-600, Boeing 737-800, Boeing 757-200 and Airbus A340-300 aircraft.

On 28 October 2002, Air China consolidated with China National Aviation Corporation and China Southwest Airlines and the airline merged into Air China.
