Clarinet Sonata (Howells)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Herbert Howells's clarinet sonata is in two movement and was written for the clarinet in A for British clarinet player Frederick Thurston. The music is typical of Howells's improvised sound world and technically challenging with sweeping arpeggiated figurations. The piece is also available transcribed for the B♭ instrument from Boosey and Hawkes's music archive.
