Clifton railway station serves Clifton, Greater Manchester, a suburb of Salford, Greater Manchester, England.
It lies on the Manchester-Preston Line. In 2006, the station has just one train a day in each direction (local services run by Northern Rail). 417 passengers are recorded as using the station in 2004-5.
Until 1974, the station was called Clifton Junction (which is indeed the name of the locality the station serves). The station was a junction for a line to Bury closed in 1966.
The nearest alternative station to Clifton Junction with a regular service is Swinton 2km (1ΒΌ miles away) on the line between Manchester and Wigan via Atherton.
