Coat of arms of Baden-Württemberg

The coat of arms of Baden-Württemberg was determined after the merge of the former German states Baden and Württemberg in 1952. It is a combination of the coats of arms of both states.

The shield shows three black lions with red tongues on a golden background. This was the coat of arms of the Duchy of Swabia that is regarded as the common origin of both states. The supporters represent both states: the deer for Württemberg and the griffin for Baden.

The six small coat of arms at the top stand for the origins of parts of Baden-Württemberg. It is from left to right:
