Compression shorts are an undergarment usually worn by athletes to support their muscles.

Compression shorts, however, are form-fitting garments and very similar to boxer briefs, but flyless. These garments are often made from a spandex-type material, like cycling shorts.

Compression shorts keep the muscles warm so as to prevent strains or pulls to the muscles. They will also prevent chafing and prevent rashes from forming.

There are also studies that state that using compression shorts may increase performance through the reduction of muscle 'oscillations'. This allows the athlete to perform the same amount of work, but expend less energy.

There are also other types of Compression Gear that work the same, such as Compression T-Shirts.
