The Croydon Advertiser (with locally-branded editions) is a weekly newspaper covering the London Borough of Croydon, South London, and surrounding areas. It is the third-highest selling paid-for weekly paper in London. <ref>Newspaper Society London circulation tables, Jul-Dec 2005 accessed 2006-08-09</ref> The Advertiser is Croydon's major paid-for weekly newspaper and is on sale every Friday in five geographical editions: Croydon; Sutton & Epsom; Coulsdon & Purley; New Addington; and Caterham.<ref name="Trinity">Trinity Mirror Southern series description accessed 2006-08-09</ref> Each edition has pages concentrating on local news and information from that specific area.

The Croydon newspaper was founded by Jesse Ward in 1869<ref>Newspaper History at Ash Rare Books, accessed 2006-08-14.</ref>, and it and the other Advertiser publications are now part of the Trinity Mirror Group<ref name="Trinity"/>, which also owns the Daily Mirror and is the largest newspaper publisher in the United Kingdom.<ref>Trinity Mirror Group accessed 2006-08-09</ref> The paper converted to a from a broadsheet to a compact (tabloid) format on 31 March 2006.
